Is Learning Chinese Difficult?

So you are strongly considering learning how to speak Mandarin or Cantonese Chinese.  But the burning question is this: Is learning Chinese difficult? My answer, in a word is, no!

In my opinion, learning Chinese is not a hard thing to do even if you are someone who has trouble learning languages.

is it hard to learn Chinese

Chinese language is such a dominant language today, and there are plenty of methods to use that will make your learning process easier. This article will talk about some approaches you can use to make learning Chinese dialects easier.

First off, you must keep in mind that you will need  to have some patience. You certainly won't be speaking Chinese language fluently in several days. Even if you have a perfect memory and can remember all of your tones and basic characters, you might still have some problems stringing together a sentence correctly.

Your progress will suffer if you try to become fluent too quickly and put pressure on yourself. Don't expect too much, too soon, just relax and learn in a slow but sure manner. This allows you to feel more relaxed and confident with Chinese.

If people know you're learning their language, when you talk to them they'll be more patient with you. I know it's not likely, but if you try to pass yourself off as a master of the language, some one who is completely fluent too soon you will either make yourself look an idiot or, in a nutshell, piss someone off! The more humble you are,the more likely others are to be patient and helpful towards you.

You can of course take a Chinese language course. Many people feel intimidated to learn a language along side others as. in a class setting, people normally have to speak the language in front of others. This can intimidate a lot of students but try not to be intimidated. The bolder and braver you are, the more likely you are to succeed.

Making mistakes is natural and, in fact,  a great thing to do, no matter how many ridiculous blunders you make in front of everyone. Everyone else makes the same mistakes, so what better time or place is there to do it? Everyone can participate in making silly mistakes! It will certainly be less intimidating than trying out your new language with a local who might not be so forgiving when you use a word or tense incorrectly.

It will also help you to watch Chinese  TV and movies. This is easy because there are plenty of   Chinese language TV broadcasts, and most movie rental stores (I know there aren't many left but…. ) keep a foreign language section.

This will let you gain knowledge of how Cantonese or Mandarin Chinese is actually spoken but without traveling to Hong Kong, China or other Chinese speaking parts of the world just to hear it.

When you watch, be sure to enable the subtitles. Then, as your understanding improves, try turning them off and see how you do. You can really accelerate your learning by doing this exercise.

Learning how to speak the Chinese language, or any language, doesn't need to be an experience in frustration. There are lots of hints and tips that you can put into play to help you learn.

One great key to learning any language - an open mind.

You can absorb the information much more with an open mind.
